A boned corset made from cream cotton with elasticated panels and elastic waist band. Six suspenders are attached to the bottom and are used to hold up stockings. There are 13 hooks and 1 row of 13 eyes. There are five inserts of bone stiffening.
The Corset began to be widely worn in the 16th century and was designed to shape the body to the fashions of the time. The corset was designed to flatten the stomach and in some cases the breasts.
Included is a second corset in a soft pink colour, possibly a maternity corset.
