Bra HC93

A white cotton bra with four hooks at the back and adjustable strap.

The modern day bra has its origins in the 'Breast Supporter' patented in 1893 by Marie Tucek. The term brassiere was first used by Vogue in 1907. The outbreak of WWI hastened the popularity of the bra. Major developments came in the 1930s including cup sizes. In the 1960s bra's were seen as constricting women and feminist encouraged women to burn their bras.

Also included are two pairs of women's underwear from the 1900's.
