Soap Bars HC130/1-4


Four rectangular shaped light brown/yellow bars of soap from the early 1900's, handmade. 

Soap consisting of sodium or potassium of fatty acids is obtained by reacting fat with lye in a process known as saponification. Shavings of soap were placed in boiling water to wash clothes by hand.
