Six rectangular shaped light brown/yellow bars of soap. One bar is made by Waxine. The other five soaps are homemade.
Soap consisting of sodium or potassium of fatty acids is obtained by reacting fat with lye in a process known as saponification. Shavings of soap were placed in boiling water to wash clothes by hand.
