Mobile Phones HC185/1-4


Four portable mobile phones which show portable phone technology in the 90’s. These mobile phones were primarily used to make calls and send text messages. Some 90’s mobile phones had basic games such as ‘Snake’.  

The Motorola 8900X-2 is a classic 'brick' while the Nokia shows the change in size and weight of mobile phones in the late 1990s.

A patent for a wireless telephone was made in 1908 and in the late 1940s 'cell' phone technology was developed. Motorola is considered the first manufactures of the handheld phone in the 1970s. Text messaging was developed in 1993.
