Gramophone HC56


A gramophone in a black box with fabric overlay and hinged lid with leather carry handle. A chrome needle and handle with felt and chrome turntable.

The gramophone was invented by Emile Berliner in 1887 and was a significant improvement in sound quality. Berliner, a German, was living in America and founded the Gramophone Company which mass produced 'sound disks' for the first time. His Masters Voice H.M.V. became the trademark for the Gramophone Company in 1899.
