Thirty-two dip pens with black handles that have metal nibs mounted in them.
Thought to have been invented in the 1700s, dip pens were being mass produced by the 1840s. Dip pens hold no ink and must be recharged by repeatedly dipping into ink. While overtaken by the fountain and ball point pen, dip pens are often used for calligraphy.
