View Master with Disks HC186/1-32

A dark brown view master with thirty-two disks of scenes of the world, royalty and well known people. The view master allowed the user to see images in 3D in a similar way to the stereoscope, where two images are viewed simultaneously.

The view master was patented in 1940. It was originally promoted as an alternative to the scenic postcard. However it was used during WWII as a training device. After the war it became a very popular toy.
