Electric Iron HC51

A chromed electric domestic iron. Hotpoint etched in base of handle. Hotpoint was America's most popular electric iron.

The first electric iron was patented in 1882 when electricity was widely available in the home. The electric iron replaced other types of irons and the steam iron was introduced. Electric irons were faster to heat, cleaner and relatively cheap.
