Fifteen assorted moa bones including upper leg, rib, vertabrae and pelvis. The bones were collected from Athenree, Western Bay of Plenty.
The moa (dinoris maximus) was indigenous to New Zealand and is now extinct due to hunting by Maori. It was a valuable food source and was used in a variety of ways. Moa stood up to 2.5m in height and there were 24 different species.
